Frederick R. Pember was born on January 24, 1919 in White Plains, New York to parents Harry and Cecilia Ottley Pember. As per the 1940 Census, Frederick was single, an apprentice carpenter and living in White Plains. He enlisted on April 7, 1937 in Company C of the 102nd New York Medical Regiment, for a three-year period. He was honorably discharged on April 1, 1940. He reenlisted on October 15, 1940 in Company E of the 102nd New York Medical Regiment, for another three years and reenlisted again on February 2, 1942. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant on September 6, 1945 on demobilization.
After his service, Fred was very active in the Armonk Fire Department and Ambulance Corp. He was the Fire Chief during the 1950s. He died on October 24, 1995 in Mt. Kisco, NY.
