Isaac Casten was born in 1842 in Harrison, New York. Prior to enlisting, he was a laboror and was married to Sarah Jane Smith Casten, living in Greenwich, Connecticut. He enlisted in December 1863 in Bridgeport, CT in Company F of the 29th Connecticut Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Colored) - the State's first colored regiment. He mustered in as a Private (date unknown). He received an honorable discharge on October 24, 1865 in Brownsville, Texas.
Actual date of passing unknown, but was during the period 1900-10.
